1. Introduction

Youvia Women Football Club (Youvia WFC) is committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, equity, and respect where all individuals, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, ability, or background, can thrive. This policy outlines our commitment to promoting gender equity, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of the club’s operations, including player recruitment, staffing, training, and community outreach.


2. Vision

We envision a football community where all individuals, especially women and girls, have equal opportunities to participate, develop, and lead. We aim to be a club that embraces diversity, supports equity, and ensures an inclusive environment for all members.


3. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Promote gender equity by ensuring equal access and opportunities for women and girls in football.
  • Foster an inclusive and diverse environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Actively work to eliminate discrimination, harassment, and bias based on gender, race, disability, or other personal characteristics.

4. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All players, coaches, staff, volunteers, and partners associated with Youvia WFC.
  • All activities, events, training programs, and community outreach initiatives organized by the club.

5. Core Principles

Youvia WFC’s commitment to gender equity, diversity, and inclusion is guided by the following core principles:

  1. Equity in Opportunities: We will provide equal opportunities for women and girls to participate in football, from grassroots levels to leadership roles.
  2. Diversity: We celebrate the unique perspectives and contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including differences in gender, race, ethnicity, age, ability, and socio-economic status.
  3. Inclusion: We aim to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute and succeed.
  4. Non-Discrimination: Discrimination and harassment of any form will not be tolerated. We will take immediate action to address and resolve any incidents of bias or unfair treatment.
  5. Support for Underrepresented Groups: We will actively promote the inclusion of underrepresented groups in football, including people with disabilities,and  ethnic minorities.

6. Gender Equity Commitments

To promote gender equity, Youvia WFC commits to the following actions:

  • Equal Access to Resources and Facilities: Ensure that female players have the same access to training facilities, coaching, and resources as their male counterparts.
  • Inclusive Recruitment and Selection: Ensure that recruitment and selection processes for players, staff, and volunteers are fair and based on merit, without any gender bias.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Encourage and support women to take up leadership positions within the club, including coaching, management, and governance roles.
  • Mentorship and Development: Provide mentorship and professional development programs specifically aimed at promoting the growth and development of female players, coaches, and staff.

7. Diversity and Inclusion Commitments

To ensure a diverse and inclusive environment, we commit to:

  • Inclusive Practices: Implement inclusive practices in all aspects of club operations, from training and events to player development and community engagement.
  • Accessible Football Programs: Ensure that our football programs are accessible to individuals of all abilities, including amputee and disabled players, by providing the necessary accommodations and support.
  • Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity: Promote cultural awareness and sensitivity through training for players, coaches, and staff to prevent bias and enhance cross-cultural understanding.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate with community organizations and groups that represent diverse populations to ensure our programs are inclusive and accessible to all.

8. Anti-Discrimination and Harassment

Youvia WFC has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination, harassment, or abuse. All individuals involved with the club are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Any form of discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, ability, age, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.
  • Reporting Mechanism: We will establish clear, confidential mechanisms for reporting discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment. Complaints will be investigated promptly and thoroughly.
  • Support for Victims: Provide appropriate support and resources for individuals who experience discrimination or harassment, including access to counseling and legal assistance if necessary.

9. Accountability and Governance

  • DEI Officer: Appoint a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy and ensuring that gender equity and inclusion are integrated into all club activities.
  • Training and Awareness: Regularly provide DEI training and workshops for players, staff, and volunteers to raise awareness about gender equity, diversity, and inclusion issues.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Implement regular monitoring and evaluation of the club’s progress in achieving gender equity, diversity, and inclusion goals. This will include tracking the participation and advancement of underrepresented groups.
  • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continuously improving our policies and practices based on feedback, research, and evolving best practices in gender equity and inclusion.

Youvia WFC is dedicated to promoting gender equity, diversity, and inclusion as fundamental values of the club. This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and effective in promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment at Youvia WFC.
